US (PA): Ceres builds solar greenhouse with “pink” technology

In the spring of 2017, the Ceres residential design team collaborated with a passionate environmental science professor at Allegheny College in Pennsylvania to integrate Soliculture photovoltaic roof panels into their 12×16 DIY greenhouse design.

The goal was to create an energy efficient campus greenhouse that produced its own electricity and enhanced the incoming light spectrum for efficient photosynthesis to occur. The design process was simple and straight forward, focusing mainly on adjusting the traditional roof structure to accommodate the Soliculture panel specifications.

The final product is an efficient, power producing greenhouse that acts as both campus grow center and energy efficiency education structure. Not to mention the pink panels make for a cheery glow for gardeners to enjoy.
