"Australia: BerryQuest International to showcase "berry industry’s best"
The conference features a speaker program including Growcom’s Chief Advocate Rachel Mackenzie who will give an update on managing labour issues in the berry industry and bring you up-to-date on the Horticulture Code.
Growers are encouraged to register now for the chance to hear from Australian and international experts on topics relevant to the growth of their businesses. Among the presenters will be several innovative growers to discuss issues that will affect the berry industry as it expands over the next five to ten years.
Special guest and research geneticist Dr Chad Finn from the United States Department of Agriculture will also outline his vision for future breeding requirements for berries. Dr Finn leads a comprehensive berry breeding program based in Corvallis, Oregon involving raspberries, blackberries, blueberries and strawberries.
For one time only, growers will have the opportunity to network with local and global suppliers to learn about the latest innovations and technology at the dedicated Trade Exhibition with more than 30 companies exhibiting their products and services.
Australian supermarket Coles and Woolworths will be giving their insights into the changing consumer landscape. Attendees will hear about the latest on exports, substrate management, protected cropping, pest and disease management, marketing, postharvest, food safety, and labour management.
The conference will be followed with farm tours showing off the best of berry produce and crop management in Tasmania.
