Sept. 16 in Raywood:

US (TX): Agriculture-oriented disaster assistance workshop

The Texas AgrAbility program of the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will present an agriculture-oriented disaster assistance workshop from 8:30 a.m.-noon Sept. 16 at the Raywood Livestock Market, 14810 E. Highway 90 in Raywood. The workshop is free, but attendees are asked to preregister at http://txagrability.tamu.edu/workshops/.

A continental breakfast will be provided courtesy of Capital Farm Credit.

“Due to the devastation from Hurricane Harvey, we will be hosting a seminar to highlight programs and assistance for farmers and ranchers affected by disaster,” said Erin Kimbrough, AgriLife Extension coordinator for family and community health, College Station. “This program will focus on the various disaster assistance programs available for those farmers and ranchers affected.”

Workshop topics will include:

— Emergency assistance for livestock- and crop-related expenses and losses.

— Emergency financial assistance.

— Disaster relief funds.

— Financial assistance programs to help with farm and land damage.

— Programs to help with crop and livestock losses.

— Deadlines for applying for disaster assistance programs.

— Restoration and rehabilitation of farm and ranch land.

“John and Kory Brett with the Raywood Livestock Market provided us with this excellent venue that seats up to 200 people at no cost when our original location became unavailable,” Kimbrough said. “We are very grateful for their generosity.”
