Grafted plants the new standard for Chinese solar greenhouses

China is home to a big growth market for Spanish horticultural machinery developer Conic System. In order to supply the Chinese market as optimally as possible, the company has teamed up with Liaoning Yinong Agri-Tech Co., for the sales, distribution and services of the Conic Systems line-up of machinery.

Conic's product catalog features seeder lines, irrigation booms, trays washers, nebulizers and grafting machines. With China's agriculture and horticulture industries going through a modernization, there is more and more demand for this kind of automation. Especially now that more Chinese growers are asking for grafted vegetable seedlings.

The cooperation agreement with Liaoning Yinong Agri-Tech Co. is a logical next step of the relationship the company has with Conic. Liaoning Yinong has been using the Conic machines in their own large nurseries.

The group has four nurseries, all located in the Liaoning Province (Northeast of China). Two are located in Tieling, one in Hurutao (Suitzong) and another one in Dalian. In the latter one, the nursery in Dalian, the grower has made a special showroom available to demonstrate Conic System's machinery.

The grower produces grafted vegetable seedlings inside their greenhouses, as well as vegetables inside the typical Chinese solar greenhouses. They have installed dedicated Conic equipment, from seeding lines to nebulizers and also use the Conic System grafting machines to graft at a speed of 2,500 plants per hour, with just 6 workers.

The company supplies mainly tomatoes, eggplants, cucumber and pepper seedlings. The young plants that are not sold to the local industry, are used inside their own solar greenhouses. Next to this the company grows strawberries. During special open days they invite local people to pick their own fruit and vegetables.

Conic System has big expectations for their machinery on the Chinese horticulture market. After Israel, Turkey, Europe and South America, China is poised to become an important growth market for the Spanish company.
