US (TN): Workshops to help direct marketers of vegetables

Knowing whether you’re making money is critical to the success of any farm business says Hal Pepper, financial analysis specialist with the University of Tennessee Center for Profitable Agriculture. This is especially true for those direct marketing fresh vegetables.

“How to Know If Your Direct Marketing Vegetable Enterprise is Making Money” is a topic that will be presented in August and September in workshops developed by University of Tennessee Extension Center for Profitable Agriculture. The workshops are designed to help growers learn the basics of using records and budgets to track revenue and costs and to plan. Some locations will offer an additional topic and these may include sales tax, business tax and liability insurance for value-added products or managing risks of backyard poultry.
