Spain: Agroponiente doubles organic production and acreage

Grupo Agroponiente continues to bet strongly on the cultivation of organic products and has held a meeting with its "bio" producers to take stock of a very positive campaign in terms of figures and development. Agroponiente's organic producers have received this information from the general director of Agroponiente, Antonio Escobar; the manager for organic production of the company, Diego Oller; and the technical specialist in this type of crops, Gregorio Monsalvo.

This campaign, Agroponiente has actually doubled the figures of the previous one in terms of production and acreage, marketing ten million kilos and reaching two hundred hectares cultivated.

The products with the most significant growth have been Dutch cucumbers, bell and Palermo peppers and mini watermelons, although the trend has been positive in all products of Agroponiente's portfolio.

Another topic addressed at the meeting was the forecasts for the next campaign, marked, above all, by the plans to further boost the production with a moderate and sustained growth, setting the target at about twelve million kilos, but also especially by the focus on the joint work between Agroponiente's professionals and the producers with the goal of improving the quality of the production, which is one of the usual demands of the markets.

In this sense, Gregorio Monsalvo addressed those at the meeting to discuss crucial issues related to quality and organic farming methods in order to ensure that there is continuous improvement, which happens to be a sign of identity for the company in general and for organic agriculture in particular.

Antonio Escobar stated during the meeting that "our commitment to organic farming has been very strong for several years and we said in the beginning that the goal was to maintain this sustained growth that we are currently experiencing. We will continue in this line, always supporting producers who bet on organic farming, working side by side with them, solving their doubts and their problems and approaching the market with signs of identity such as quality, reliability and service to producers and customers."
