France: CMF builds research greenhouse for INRA Orléans

In May 2017, CMF, the French specialist in the construction of greenhouses and glazed bioclimatic buildings delivered to INRA (National Institute for Agronomic Research) Orleans, a high-tech research greenhouse exclusively dedicated to poplar.

164 m² and 5 high-tech cells for research on poplar
Designed within the engineering department of CMF in collaboration with CLIMA+ (engineering office expert in containment) and scientists, the research greenhouse of INRA Orleans is composed of high-tech equipment (air treatment, dual flow air handling, high pressure misting system, light distribution with LED fixtures…), recreating different climates to the nearest degree.

This greenhouse includes 1 technical room and 4 cells for production, among which is a biosafety cell (containment level 2 with a high efficiency filtration). Implementation of double glazing (Uw = 1.5 W/m².K) in the greenhouse by using large-scaled pieces of glass together with aluminium profiles designed to avoid thermal bridges: the Ecoklima range (exclusivity from CMF). For optimal use of this greenhouse and inside equipment, CMF will provide training of the INRA Orléans team of researchers.

The building of the INRA of Orléans is part of a series of orders in compliance with strict scientific specifications like plant research greenhouses for public institutes such as INRA Toulouse (dedicated to high speed phenotyping for horticulture): laboratory and greenhouse, 582 m², INRA Colmar (for the study of performance of the vine): greenhouse with containment level 2 (S2), 630 m², CIRAD Montpellier (for tests of rice plantation): laboratory and greenhouse with containment level 2 (S2), 637 m², or Creat La Gaude (for varied wine-growing and horticultural production): traditional greenhouse, 1,556 m² and also a 200 m² fully equipped research greenhouse in Bangladesh for the Bangladesh Jute Research Institute.
