Netherlands: Verkade drives first piles for new building

On Friday June 16th, the first pile for the new construction of Verkade Klimaat was driven in at the Turfschipper in Wateringen. April last year, the DUtch family business premises was completely destroyed by fire. At the end of 2017, the new building will be completed. Until then, Verkade Klimaat will remain in the premises at the Slachthuisstraat in Naaldwijk, where the company moved after the fire.

The first pile was driven in on Friday June 16th by Pim and Sanne, the children of director Ronald Verkade. This act symbolized a new start for the future of the supplier of climate systems for horticulture, commercial buildings and residential sector. After the fire in 2016, the company quickly restarted and continued their business service from Naaldwijk.

Sustainable techniques
The new building consists of approximately 4,000 m² of industrial space and 1,200 m² of office space. Several sustainable techniques are used, such as a heat pump, heat recovery, solar panels and special blinds. The new building of Verkade Klimaat is being built by Bouwbedrijf Jongerius from Kwintsheul.
