UK: NIAB Leafy Salads Open Day at G's Fresh

Hosted by G’s Fresh, this year’s NIAB Leafy Salads Open Day will be an opportunity for growers from all sectors to learn more about soils and growing media.

AHDB project workshops will be taking place on the day, with Lizzie Sagoo of ADAS looking at precision farming tools such as soil EC scanning and how crop sensing can be used to measure and manage variability in soils and crops.

Paul Newell Price also from ADAS will be hosting a discussion later in the day on how we can improve assessment and management of soil structure.

In addition, there will also be three additional soil and growing media themed workshops and over 90 variety plots. Stefan De Cristofo of Waitrose will be presenting on Soil health, Chloe Whiteside of ADAS on growing media and Jim Monaghan of Harper Adams on lettuce transplanting. Bruce Napier of NIAB and other representatives from the seed houses will demonstrate the variety plots.
