EFSA renews membership of ANS and CEF Panels

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has published the names, Declarations of Interest and CVs of members of its renewed Scientific Panels on Food Additives and Nutrient Sources Added to Food (ANS) and on Food Contact Materials, Enzymes, Flavourings and Processing Aids (CEF). Members will serve on the respective Panels as of 1 July 2017 for a one-year term.

The nomination of Panel members followed a strict selection process, which was reviewed by an external evaluation committee. The 42 members of the two Panels were appointed by EFSA’s Management Board on 22 March 2017.

Over 200 experts from 39 countries responded to the call published last year, and candidates were selected for nominations based on the scientific expertise required for the respective panel. The new term will begin on 1 July 2017 and end on 30 June 2018, as the responsibilities of the two Panels will slightly change in July 2018.

In view of next year’s Panel renewal, EFSA has recently launched a call for scientific experts for its ten Scientific Panels and its Scientific Committee. Interested scientists can still apply until 8 September 2017.
