New statistics available on Australian protected cropping acreage
Greenhouse statistics specialist Gary W. Hickman of Cuesta Roble Consulting will soon release an update on his Australian Greenhouse Vegetable Production Statistics.
Hickman, who follows and tracks a lot of international greenhouse vegetable expansions, will release the 2017 version next month. In his 2016 report, he estimated the total greenhouse vegetable (covered & protected cropping) production of Australia at 397 hectares, divided over a total of 543 growers.
Capsicum 149 ha., 180 growers
Lettuce 52 ha., 102 growers
Tomato 196 ha., 261 growers
