The new Grodan Supreme slab for sweet peppers and the extended Grodan Elite slab for tomatoes signal the launch of our crop-specific customisation. Both products partner a wide steering range with maximum root development, vigour and a persistent performance – properties that will maintain the right crop balance for high production and quality.
The new Grodan Elite and Grodan Supreme stone wool slabs are based on our Next Generation 2.0 technology, which facilitates rapid and complete refreshment of nutrients in the slab. Better water distribution is also achieved and the steering range can be widened. The result is complete, finely branched roots throughout the slab, extra vigour and a robust and uniform crop that produces more. Both slabs are supremely suitable for Precision Growing: maximum year-round performance with an efficient water, nutrient and energy input. These two new slabs for the top segment clearly contribute to this goal.
Elite tomato slab
The extended Elite is the next development stage of the compact Elite Single Plant system. The same slab properties have been incorporated into an extended, 10 cm high Elite slab, which is suitable for several plants. Growers who trialled the slab last season have responded enthusiastically. From the start, plants grown on Elite display controlled root development which they benefit from for the entire season. The strong generative crop development ensures higher, early production and faster, more uniform fruit set. As the plants can be harvested earlier, the load on the plant is less which benefits fruit quality. Tomato growers who use Elite expect to produce higher yields.
Supreme slab for sweet peppers
The goal of many sweet pepper growers is high, early production, higher total production and better average fruit quality. The Supreme slab offers a wide and easy WC and EC steering range, for complete, finely branched root development in the entire slab and persistent vigour. Measuring 12 x 10 cm, the slab is narrower and higher than the customary standard in sweet pepper cultivation. These dimensions simplify generative steering early in the cultivation cycle. WC and EC can be corrected faster and more accurately. Crops grown on Supreme stand out for their healthy root system, early and strong first fruit set, fewer quality-related problems and a more uniform, vigorous crop - that also produces more after the summer. The Supreme slab currently being launched is only suitable for the V-system. A similar slab for the 4-row system is under development.
In 2017 the introduction of both products is focused on the Benelux. Other markets will follow in 2018.
