Bulgaria: Pepper producers want increased aid for insurance

The Bulgarian Pepper Association (APB) has asked the country's Minister of Agriculture, Food and Forestry (MAF), Rumen Porozhanov, to increase the funding for insurances by 500,000 Lev (about 255,720 Euro).

They point out that fruit and vegetable insurance funds are exhausted, and only 1.5% of producers have been able to insure their production from this aid.

"This spring has been cold, and there has been a delay with the seedlings of about 15-20 days, which has deprived field growers from the opportunity to take advantage of this aid," the letter said.

The ABP expects this request to be met by 30 June 2017.
