Austria: Large selection of organic herbs at Spar

A colourful selection of the best organic herbs from Tyrol is now available in all Tyrolean SPAR, EUROSPAR and INTERSPAR supermarkets. From cress to basil, fresh herbs are very popular in Austrian kitchens. Altogether, over 2,600 products from 128 Tyrol manufacturers can be found on the shelves at SPAR.

The Strillinger family (Pictured: Michael and Marika Strillinger with daughter Apollonia) has been supplying SPAR with fresh organic herbs from Tyrol for more than 30 years

The Strillinger nursery in Söll has been supplying SPAR customers with fresh organic herbs from Tyrol for over 30 years. Their produce is grown according to strict ecological guidelines. In the midst of grassland and forests, the Strillinger family, which is dedicated to the cultivation of herbs, is located on the Eiberg mountain near Söll. The mountainside, with strong sunshine during the day and cool temperatures at night, provides 600 meters of ideal growing conditions for particularly aromatic herbs. From sowing to harvest, the plants benefit from the quality of the Tyrolean soil as well as the expertise and experience of the long-time SPAR partner.

The kitchens are becoming greener
Cooking with fresh herbs is in fashion. The essential oils bring scent, freshness and spice into the food and their vitamins promote good health. Basil especially has become essential to the domestic kitchen with its unmistakable, fresh aroma. As well as the "classics" such as cress, chives, parsley or rosemary, new taste-intensive herbs such as arugula and mint are increasingly used.

Organic herbs are both healthy and tasty
"Fresh herbs are not only tasty and healthy but are also an important companion in Tyrolean kitchens. With the SPAR Natur*pur organic herbs we offer our customers local products of outstanding quality" says Dr Chrisof Rissbacher, Managing Director of SPAR Tyrol and Salzburg, when discussing the strong cooperation with the Tyrolean herb specialist Strillinger.
