Nijssen introduces own control module for Dynamic Philips Leds

Nijssen introduces its own control of the Philips Dynamic GreenPower LED production modules. The control protocol and the PLCs are integrated into the Nijssen Control Systems. The lighting is controlled from the visualization of the operating system.

The Philips Dynamic GreenPower LED growth modules are made up of different LED colors within the light spectrum (far red, red, white and blue). The light intensity can be adjusted for each color so that the light spectrum can be assembled as desired.

Integrated LED light control and other parameters in the climate room via the Nijssen Control System visualization

Flexible deployable lighting
Edwin Snabel, business unit manager Climate Technologies at Nijssen: "New to these modules is that all the colors are accomodated in one lamp. This creates an even more uniform light image that is identical for each plant. Because any desired spectrum can be compiled, researchers and growers can, in a simple and flexible way, apply different light programs to a wide variety of crops. Research on light programs is a booming business because growers can develop specific plant properties in this way. Specifically for this purpose Nijssen developed the mobile climate room ‘MyGrowthRoom’, which can also be rented out for testing purposes."

In one space, multiple light groups can be defined, which can be controlled independently

Multiple light groups individually adjustable
The LED modules are controlled via the DMX protocol for lighting equipment. This makes it possible to create multiple light groups in a room, which can be individually controlled. These light groups are realized with software. Because no additional I/O and cabling is required, this also is a cost-effective solution.

All conditions controlled precisely
A plant growth program includes, besides lighting, specific settings for temperature, air humidity and ventilation. With Nijssen's control, all relevant parameters are set and monitored via the same visualization screen. With a push on the button, the growth programs are fixed in the program module. This guarantees repeatability under 100% equal conditions.

Phytotrons for BVB Substrates
The new control will be used, among others, at BVB Substrates in De Lier. Here Nijssen realizes two phytotrons and a semi-closed greenhouse in the newly built research site. The R & D department of BVB Substrates is performing weed tests and growth tests. The high-tech phytotrons - climate rooms with a multi-layer cultivation system - are used to develop substrates for multi-layer production. Also, problematic situations from practice are researched, so that well-founded cultivation advice can be given.
