First annual Southern Arizona Sustainability Expo comes to Nogales

The first Southern Arizona Sustainability Expo will take place on Thursday, May 18 at the Santa Cruz Center in Nogales, from 10:00 a.m.- 2:00 p.m. The event is open to the public and attendance is free. In addition to a vendor fair, the Expo will feature speaker panels on solar, energy efficiency, waste reduction, and sustainable packaging.

A Fresh Produce Association of the Americas (FPAA) member, Wholesum Family Farms, has been integral in helping coordinate the event. Hannah La Luzerne of Wholesum Family Farms said, “Companies today are faced with the financial pressure to lower operating costs and the social pressure to be more environmentally friendly. The Southern Arizona Sustainability Expo will connect businesses and property managers with the products and services for implementing sustainability practices that help solve both of these challenges.”

“It has been amazing to see the community come together to plan this event, which is the first of its kind in Southern Arizona,” said FPAA President Lance Jungmeyer. “Individuals and companies are eager to learn how they can help both the environment and their bottom line. We routinely see that making the sustainable choice often is also less costly in the long run, and this conference will give the community lots of ideas to bring back to their businesses.”
