CAN (ON): Under Sun Acres lays foundation for cogen greenhouse project

In Leamington Ontario, Canadian greenhouse supplier Universal Fabricating is currently teaming up with Dutch greenhouse manufacturer BOM on a 10 hectare project for capsicum grower Under Sun Acres.

Last week the foundation was laid for Under Sun Acres

Bom Group supplies Universal Fabricating with an aluminium rooftop and gable system for a state of the art new glasshouse project. The companies have been working together on several other Canadian projects in the past. "Universal Fabricating is a local manufacturer of steel constructions and poly greenhouses. In this project, a substructure manufactured by Universal Fabricating, will be integrated with the aluminium Venlo roof and gable system that we have developed", explained Bom Group's director Martin van Zeijl.

Next to this, BOM Group will supply the new greenhouse project with a screening and heating system.

Under Sun Acres is a new company founded by Leamington-based bell pepper grower Chris Del Greco. They have big plans for their state of the art large scale Venlo greenhouse complex. The grower is currently constructing the first 10 hectares, but the land and heating infrastructure has been prepared for a total of 20 hectares. Del Greco has invested in three large CHP units from GPN - Jenbacher to supply the project with heat and electricity from cogeneration."

Van Zeijl expects that the first 10 hectares will be completed by the end of the summer, just in time to plant the first crops in December.
