The programme HEAD (Food Security and Creating Employment Opportunities for the Syrian Refugees and Jordanians in Hydroponic Agriculture Production and Improving the Value Chain in the Agriculture Sector) is a Dutch-funded programme aimed at improving the value chain in Jordan’s agricultural sector through hydroponic farming.

The grant funding from the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs provides incentives for Jordanian growers and post-harvest companies to obtain these technologies. It also opens the door for Dutch companies to expand their presence in Jordan. However, both Dutch and Jordanian project partners are expected to contribute to success of implementation by:
The project is being implemented in Jordan by EcoConsult in partnership with the business unit Greenhouse Horticulture of Wageningen University & Research, HollandDoor Cooperative U.A., and Bureau Leeters.

- raising the capacity and technology utilization in Jordan’s horticulture sector
- creating platforms and partnerships for cooperation between The Netherlands and Jordan agriculture companies, including suppliers
- expanding the base of knowledge of the newly introduced systems of cultivation and post-harvest among Jordanian growers and businesses

The grant funding from the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs provides incentives for Jordanian growers and post-harvest companies to obtain these technologies. It also opens the door for Dutch companies to expand their presence in Jordan. However, both Dutch and Jordanian project partners are expected to contribute to success of implementation by:
- Supporting technology transfer and knowledge sharing between Dutch and Jordanian partners who are participating in adopting these new technologies on one side and among Jordanian growers and businesses on the other side.
- Contributing time to project activities including training, demonstrations, workshops and awareness and knowledge sharing workshops and meetings.
- Contributing to the costs of the new installations through cost sharing of Jordanian growers and businesses and discounts by the Dutch suppliers and integrators.
