ChemChina-Syngenta deal approved by US competition authority

ChemChina and Syngenta announced that they have received approval from the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) for the proposed acquisition of Syngenta by ChemChina. This represents a major step towards the closing of the transaction, which is expected to take place in the second quarter of 2017.

In February of 2016, ChemChina initiated the takeover of Syngenta, offering to acquire the company at US$ 465 per ordinary share plus a special dividend of CHF 5 to be paid conditional upon and prior to closing. With reports in March 2017 of the EU already nearing approval of the deal, the actual merger is looking to be completed soon.
