Vicki’s Veggies:

CAN (ON): Organic growers create cultivation app with GF2 funding

Through cost-share funding opportunities with Growing Forward 2, farmers are tackling projects to help grow their profits, expand their markets and manage risks.

Vicki Emlaw and Tim Noxon operate Vicki’s Veggies near Milford, Ontario, a certified organic farm that produces 35 different crops. See how Emlaw and Noxon used GF2 funding to create an innovative new app to address production efficiencies on their farm.

For Mitch Deschatelets, who farms in Northern Ontario, fruit production in Ontario can be risky business. Weather challenges are a common concern throughout the province, but in Northern Ontario the risks are even greater. See how Mitch accessed GF2 funding to reduce the weather risks.

Growing Forward 2 is a five-year federal-provincial-territorial initiative, which encourages innovation, competitiveness and market development in Canada’s agri-food and agri-products sector. Growing Forward 2 cost-share funding is administered to producers by the Ontario Soil & Crop Improvement Association.
