NL: Construction R&D Technology Centre Syngenta commences

The first spade went into the ground to mark the start of the construction of the new R&D Technology Centre in Enkhuizen. Syngenta CEO Erik Fyrwald, who was on a three-day visit to several Dutch subsidiaries, did the honor.

"The investment in Enkhuizen is part of our strategy to grow in vegetable seeds to become the market leader in the coming years," said CEO Erik Fyrwald. "Customers and consumers want and demand more innovation - and we invest in the latest technologies to bring this innovation to growers around the world."

Construction of the new center and modernization of existing production facilities represents an investment of EUR 21 million on the site. The investment, that was announced in November 2016, is part of a phased multi-annual plan of Syngenta to invest in high-quality vegetable seeds. The R&D Technology Center consists of more than 7,300 square meters of greenhouses and growth chambers and will be completed by the end of this year.
