Veg@table: cultivate your own vegetables at home

Last year, Archiduc, a DIY kit for mushrooms, was introduced during the Fruit Logistica. This year, the company introduced a new concept for vegetables: Veg@table. “With this, consumers can cultivate lettuce and herbs at home year-round, in a miniature greenhouse with organic soil and organic seeds. You cannot get fresher than that,” says Hilde Lapierre, who runs the company with her husband Steven van Robays. “A vegetable garden on your wall, without weeds. Ideal, right?”

“The vegetables and herbs can be cultivated in special pots inside or outside. After the harvest, the consumer can sow and harvest five more times: fresh greens on your plate throughout the year. And the wonderful thing is that the system produces no waste, you harvest the amount you desire, and the rest can continue to grow. You pick your own mixed lettuce, everything can be consumed. Easy to cultivate and user-friendly for all ages. By now, we have 12 types of vegetables and herbs available, and more can follow, depending on demand. Besides these plants, people can also purchase an accompanying plant rack. Six pots can be hung from this, they will fit perfectly. At the bottom of the pot a hole can be opened to let out excess water.”

Introduction in April
The new concept will be marketed from mid-April. “We have already had much interest from various European countries. Our concept is unique, meaning it is not yet available anywhere else. Responses were very positive during the Fruit Logistica as well. We are hoping for good sales. The mushroom crate is also doing very well. Even without publicity, demand continues to increase.”

Cooperation with Calsa
There is close cooperation with Calsa-Weiss for the sales, logistics and export of all Archiduc products. “This company is a global expert in fruits and vegetables. We were looking for a partner, and found the right one,” Hilde concludes.
