Operation greenhouse on hotel rooftop completed

Now that the construction of the Amstelkwartier hotel in Amsterdam is far advanced it was time for the men from Havecon to get their materials to higher ground. Literally. Everything had to be lifted to the roof of the hotel by a special crane, after which it all had to be organized. They managed to get everything up in one piece, in spite of the limited space. You almost wouldn’t expect everything to go smoothly when you’re working at such great heights.

Work started early in the morning. The crane was assembled even before daybreak. Timber was the first to go up so a temporary floor could be created.

After this the real work could begin. The height didn’t cause any problems. The weather cooperated, there was hardly any wind and it wasn’t raining. The only challenge was the construction of the hotel, between which they had to maneuver. The height of the beams in relation to the floor was slightly more than 2 meters, leaving little space to get the longest materials positioned.

Because of this the schedule was considerably overrun. The planned half-day turned into one and a half day. Despite this setback everything arrived safely where it was supposed to.
