Airport strike delays Fruit Logistica visitors

Fruit Logistica got started in Berlin today. Strikes at the city's Tegel and Schönefeld airports caused delays for trade show visitors, forcing many, primarily Dutch, visitors to go by car instead.

Strike
Yesterday, the ground services at the Berlin airports announced they would strike between 5 am and 11 am. The fear of delayed flights came true: many visitors arrived to the show floor late, and the flight schedule has been disrupted, prompting visitors to take the long way by car instead. Although the strike is now over, Berlin Airport still cautions travelers to reckon with the aftermath of the delays and cancelled flights.

You can find more information about the strike here.

Growth
In terms of horticulture, the Berlin show has seen major growth in recent years. After the bigger, market-conscious growers decided to travel to Berlin, suppliers soon followed. Now greenhouse builders, trading companies and technical suppliers are household names in Dutch hall 3. The adjacent hall 1 is also home to various companies from the horticultural industry.
