Eco-sustainable varieties of apples and strawberries announced

During the XXV edition of Fruit Logistica, the Italian Consortium of Nurseries will present the latest varieties of CIV (apples, pears, strawberries) with low environmental impact and eco-sustainability. CIV focuses particular attention on the apples, Sweet Resistants (Fujion, Gaia, Gemini, Smeralda), the apple Civg198 * / Modì and numerous varieties of strawberries suitable for different environments (i.e. Flavia for temperate climate and Clery for continental climate environments) and everbearing varieties (such as Murano and Majestic), for traditional crops in the field and/or techniques for outside soil and/or greenhouses, which combine an excellent natural resistance with excellent organoleptic qualities in line with the modern and demanding needs of the global market.

Marica Soattin, general manager of C.I.V

The Research & Development of the CIV program is inspired more and more by 'green' considerations: "We always aim for the greatest environmental sustainability, for varieties characterized by natural hardiness and the vigor of the plants; good adaptability to integrated production and organic farming, and of course the conventional one with high productivity. We also look for production with low environmental impact thanks to their tolerance to diseases and reduced water and nutritional needs; fruits of excellent quality with a distinctive flavor and with excellent characteristics of consistency and shelf-life,” says CIV president, Pier Filippo Tagliani.

During the three days of the Berlin Fair there will also be various meetings between the CIV and its Licencees - the IV International Meeting with Modì will welcome new partners from the Southern Hemisphere: Freshmax New Zealand and Dole Chile, as well as other international partners, for a successful updating on current and future project collaborations globally.

"This edition of Fruit Logistica 2017 - says Marica Soattin, the CIV General Manager - for us has always been an important opportunity to meet all the main worldwide fruit players, to build new opportunities for international cooperation and partnerships".

The new CIV varieties will be on show at their stand at Fruit Logistca at Hall 2.2 / Stand A - 04 within the joint stand of CSO Italy.
