US: ATTRA resources to help EQIP high tunnel applicants

Many states have early-spring deadlines approaching for NRCS's Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) funding consideration in fiscal year 2017. This deadline includes applications for the High Tunnel System Initiative, which can assist individuals, legal entities, Indian Tribes, or joint operations engaged in agricultural production in installing high tunnels to extend the growing season, reduce energy use, and achieve other objectives including protecting resources on organic farms.

To find your state's NRCS website with more information on EQIP application and deadlines, you can follow the links from the national NRCS High Tunnel System Initiative website. In addition, ATTRA has many resources that can help producers find out more about high tunnels, including the publications High Tunnels in Urban Agriculture, High Tunnel Tree Fruit and Grape Production for Eastern Growers, and Sustainable Season Extension: Considerations for Design, as well as the videos Hoop Houses For Extending Your Growing Season and Heat Recovery Ventilation in Winter High Tunnels.
