EU: Growers replacing asbestos panels with help of incentives

In recent weeks huge cranes were at work at Zadelaers Boogaert Nurseries in Naaldwijk, the Netherlands. Asbestos panels were removed from the roofs of several production halls of the tomato nursery and were replaced by insulating sandwich panels.

"The company will continue to implement sustainable measures and need not worry anymore about asbestos risks in the future," says Raymond Mauritz of Reytec. "Replacing roof panels during winter remains risky in view of the weather. For this project, we opted to work with multiple cranes so that the roof could be closed within a short timeframe."

The replacement of asbestos with insulating sandwich panels is an investment that falls under the Energy Investment Allowance (EIA) program, which enables investing in energy-efficient technology and durable energy under favourable fiscal conditions.
