US (CA): 14 affected by gas leak at Oasis greenhouse

As many as 14 people were affected by a gas leak at a greenhouse in the community of Oasis Monday, Jan. 9. A gas leak was reported according to a news release from Cal Fire/Riverside County firefighters. It isn't clear what type of gas was leaking, but firefighters say they learned upon arrival that 11 people had left the greenhouse to seek medical attention and three still there were showing symptoms at the greenhouse.

Ultimately, one person was transported to a hospital and five people at the greenhouse declined medical treatment, the release says. Firefighters weren't able to determine the source, so they turned the incident over to Riverside County Environmental Health.

A Cal Fire Hazardous Materials Team was at the scene Monday morning assessing the situation and looking for the cause.
