Vegetable cultivation
During construction of new greenhouses, double-screens are especially chosen in the cultivation of bell pepper. Two clear screens, one above the other, allows for more energy saving and provides a good climate in summer. Dutch PDI customers VGT (15 hectares), 4Evergreen (18 hectares) and Joosten Growers Someren (8.5 hectares) chose that last year.
Plant nurseries
Plant nurseries have been choosing multiple screens for years already. One screen is often for the emission of light, and the other screens are to shade and to save energy. “We recently provided the greenhouse of Beekenkamp Plants with a double-layered screen of about six hectares, propagator Vreugdenhil has been provided with a double-layered screen of about two hectares, and for Gipmans BV we installed about 3.5 hectares,” according to the company.
Potted plants
If there is one type of cultivation that profits from double or triple screens, it is that of potted plants. Screens are constantly being moved to allow the plants enough light. “We are providing the newly built greenhouse of 2.5 hectares from OK Plant in Naaldwijk with a triple screen, and we also constructed the installations for Van de Haak (three hectares),” says PDI. “Three screens have been used for that. We have already got a nice triple screen scheduled for Karma Plants for 2017.”
Renovations
What was new once, has to be replaced at some time. And sometimes, a number of projects come along in one year. The renovated triple screens of Optiflor (three hectares), Maarel Orchids (1.8 hectares), Piko Plant (two hectares) and Van de Lugt (three hectares), allowed for almost thirty additional hectares of screen being delivered.
