Dutch and Chinese horticulture meet at Zhejiang University

On 22 November, the Consulate General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Shanghai, and Zhejiang University together organized a Sino-Dutch Protected Horticulture Technology Seminar at the Zhejiang University in Hangzhou. Eleven Dutch companies and more than 30 Chinese companies attended.



Mrs. Anneke Adema, Consul-General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Shanghai, said in her opening speech to be proud of the market leading position of the Netherlands in the world in the horticulture sector. “We have a world-leading position in greenhouse horticulture, our inventiveness under glass is well known”. She expressed the wish that the matchmaking would be an excellent basis for further cooperation between the Netherlands and China in the area of horticulture.



Mr. Fulco Wijdooge, general manager from HortiMax/Ridder in China, informed the audience on sustainable horticulture in the Netherlands. Secondly Mr. LI Tianlai, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and vice president of Shenyang Agriculture University, explained the trends in horticulture research in China.



After the seminar, each Dutch company or organization (Wag UR, HortiMax/Ridder, Koppert, Priva, Dümmen Orange, Anthura, Philips, Shanghai Hezhong, Metazet/Visser, Ampleon, Keygene) had individual matchmakings with those who show special interests to the Dutch technology, products or services. All the Dutch companies were very satisfied with the activity. A few statements are quoted below:
