Mini-documentary captures the heart of farmers market
It’s here in a neighborhood where fresh, nutritious food was once hard to come by, that Crossroads Farmers Market thrives. Serving a predominantly immigrant shopper base, Crossroads draws families from throughout the community seeking traditional foods grown by local farmers, many of whom are immigrants themselves. Even before the market opens, customers line up in anticipation of their weekly haul.
But it’s not just the food that drives people to Crossroads. As market manager, Michelle Dudley, describes it, Crossroads also provides nourishment for the soul.
“What I love about the market is, hands down, the people,” said Dudley. “It attracts people that really care about each other and the food system. It’s about showing up for each other and taking care of one another. The space offers so many different things for different people.”
