Italy: German growers visit Gruppo Di Meo Remo

After the positive results of an Italian study trip carried out by a group of plant growers from north Westphalia last year, a new group of German operators wanted to do the same this year and visited Gruppo Di Meo Remo and Copraval PO.

Azienda agricola Di Meo Remo

The tour was organised by the north Westphalia Chamber of Agriculture and Erns Zimprich, representative of Compaqpeat. It included four days of visits to crops and to the Anzio, Nettuno, Sermoneta, Cori and parco di Ninfa areas.

During their visit to Gruppo Di Meo Remo companies, guests were accompanied by Remo Di Meo and his daughters Barbara and Alessia, who illustrated the state-of-the-art production facilities at Nettuno and Bella Farnia.

Aromatic herbs

In particular, visitors could see the advance technologies applied to the production of aromatic herbs such as basil, oregano, sage, mint, rosemary and chives. Recently, new pre-cut formats in trays and flowpacks were also introduced.

Guests could see the many poinsettia plants, of which the company sells over 380 thousand vases during the Christmas period. They were particularly interested in tree, basket and vase 22 poinsettias, which are used to decorate and are still relatively unknown on the German market.

Positive comments were made also on the quality and robustness of plants as well as on the strict and rigorous production protocols employed by the technicians. Guests were also able to savour amazing local products such as buffalo mozzarella, oil and wines from the Pietrapinta winery, ham from Bassiano, porchetta from Ariccia and caciotta from Agro Pontino.

After the farewell lunch with typical Roman dishes, guests thanked their hosts with delicious sweets from their land.
