IPN QuadCore technology: new core material in insulated panels

Isocab introduces ‘the new foam’

Isocab, part of Kingspan since 2012, introduced something unique this year: QuadCore technology. “The core technology of insulated panels has experienced a breakthrough. QuadCore offers the highest possible thermic insulation in the sector. Additionally, it has excellent fire resistant properties and it is better environmentally. Customers can also get a 40-year guarantee on the thermic and constructive properties of the panel,” Ben Claaszen, Managing Director of Isocab, sums up the advantages.

Alternative
Isocab has been active on the market of insulated sandwich panels and doors for 40 years already. Kingspan, Isocab’s parent company, developed this new technology in recent years. “Up till now, the core material, the insulating foam, of panels consisted of PU or PIR, and we now offer an alternative. ‘The new foam’ has many benefits compared to the older types of foam. For many companies, it is still new, so we are first going to introduce it.” Claaszen indicates that the price of the panels with this new technology is about 10 per cent higher. “But when adding together all of the benefits, and when you see what a company’s total investment costs, it is almost negligible, and only good for the future.”

Customers
Isocab supplies its products to cooling suppliers, among other customers, that also supply to the fresh produce sector. “Many producers or traders who are going to invest in their business premises and cold store, might think less about the importance of a good door or the acquisition of the correct panels. And these are the essentials regarding the cooling of fresh produce, food safety, shelf life of the products and energy saving. The choices made about these aspects often have an influence on the future of the company. My advice: consider these aspects when making long-term decisions.”

Competitors
Multiple producers operate on the ‘panel market.’ “The difference with other suppliers is that they come from either ‘downstream’ or ‘upstream.’ This means that they were originally steel or foam producers. We are not producers of foam or steel, so we operate independently and develop everything ourselves. That is how we developed the QuadCore technology, which has also been patented.” Please click this link to read more about the QuadCore: www.ipn-quadcore.be

Future
From 1 November, Isocab NV will officially enter into a joint venture with Isobar. The partnership is applicable to Isobar in Beveren-Leie and Isocab in Bavikhove. “This was a logical step, Isobar was active on the same market. In coming years we will continue to focus on the three core activities: technological development of the foam, application of our panels and transfer of knowledge to the final customer.”
