Russell IPM employs new horticultural development manager

As of 10th October 2016, Russell IPM has enriched its scientific team through the employment of Dr Clare Sampson of Keele University to the position of Horticultural Development Manager.

Dr Sampson's field experience, developing biological and integrated pest control programmes in protected crops in Northern Europe and Spain, as well as in the biological pest control industry, make her an indispensable team member. Her research on the chemical ecology of the western flower thrips, Frankliniella occidentalis, has led her to develop and test with Russell IPM an innovative trap for the protection of strawberry crops, that is currently being field-trialled across the UK.

One model of the trap has already won an international Innovation Award. Strawberry, ornamental, cucumber, pepper, potato and brassica growers can continue to rely on Dr Sampson for biological pest control advice as she helps Russell IPM further improve and diversify its chemicals-free solutions.
