Russia will not lift embargo against Turkey
Russia’s Minister of Agriculture, Alexander Tkachev has said that Russia is not considering removing the produce embargo against Turkey. According to him, the government has not yet considered this question, because revoking the embargo would seriously damage domestic production.
''We don’t intend to open up our market so quickly to food. Turkey has its own competitive advantages. But speaking of food, especially of vegetables, we are not in a hurry to do it, because the tens and hundreds of producers in different parts of our country believed and heard the government’s call to saturate our market with vegetables of our own production," said the head of the Ministry of Agriculture.
According to Tkachev, today the deficit of vegetables is about 1.5 million tons, which are still bought from abroad, but could be replaced by domestic manufacturers.
