Bato introduces new stem holder for tomato crops

Together with a leading Dutch tomato grower, Bato Plastics has developed a new special stem holder for greenhouse tomato crops. According to Bato's account manager Raymond van Mierlo, the stem holder is specially developed to prevent fungus in order to obtain stronger and healthier crops.

The stem holder is designed for grafted double tomato crops and prevents splitting of the stem. "When the crops are lowered too much rotation tension on the plants can result in damage and splitting at the rootstock", explained Van Mierlo. "That split is often a place where fungus like Botrytis and Fusarium occur, with loss of yield and crops as a result. With the innovative stem holder this can now be prevented."
