Jenbacher Holland celebrates 25 anniversary

A milestone was marked this past May for the Jenbacher Dutch subsidiary, which celebrated 25 years of operations.

The company was founded as a subsidiary of Jenbacher OMHG in Austria, and was acquired by GE in 2003. The Dutch subsidiary began with about 10 staffers, but the company has achieved enormous growth since then. Ten years ago, for instance, the subsidiary employed just six technicians to maintain 80 engines. Today, 120 field service technicians for Granite, a GE-owned service company, work in four regions and are supported by an international 24/7 helpdesk and GE’s Service Knowledge Center. In total, some 50 staffers now are involved in the operational, commercial, project-related and administrative aspects of the business.

Along with this growth, the company increasingly is assuming an international role. As part of GE’s Distributed Power business, it is able to quickly provide service and efficiently respond to the latest developments and needs around the world.

Working with the Dutch horticulturalists who pioneered CO2 fertilization in greenhouses, GE’s worldwide Center of Excellence for cogeneration in greenhouses is based in the Netherlands. Today, more than 1,500 Jenbacher cogeneration units with CO2 fertilization have been installed worldwide, providing about 2,500 MW of power.
