Australia: PCA hosting new grower workshops

In April PCA hosted a greenhouse grower’s workshop at Woolgoolga Bowling Club, including supper.

The event attracted more than 47 Coffs Harbour locals who grow both cucumbers and berries, often alongside each other. There was also a dozen industry support and supply people, leaving standing room only.

Seminis sponsored the Lucky Door Prize of a two year full PCA membership valued at $500.

'Lucky' Lakhvinder Singh will now benefit from discounted water analysis from Agvita Analytical, and discounted electricity through Progressive Green, as well as discounted PCA and HFF conferences and a subscription to Soilless Australia magazine.

Speaker presentations included;
  • Leaf, fruit and stem diseases of Blueberries, By Rosalie Daniel, NSW DPI
  • Grafting cucumbers for Fusarium wilt, By Jonathan Lidbetter, NSW DPI
  • Soil properties for healthy crops, By Greg Reid, Consultant
  • Re-planting issues, By Len Tesoriero, NSW DPI
Rijk Zwaan provided supper and beverages after the talks.
Coffs Harbour Regional Landcare hired the private room and other partners included NSW DPI, Horticulture Innovation Australia (HIA) and the Australian Blueberry Growers Association
