Hoogendoorn introduces PlantVoice to let you communicate with your crop
Hoogendoorn wants to give plants a voice with the new monitoring and control system PlantVoice. Realization of the greenhouse climate is based on the needs of the plant. Natascha Faessen: "PlantVoice fits within the The New Cultivation concept. It puts the plant first."
The software module focuses on the three plant balances: energy, water and assimilate balance. These balances are at the heart of any plant growth model. The software helps you keep the plants 'in balance' and thus allows the plant to grow optimally. The result? Optimal production and quality. Besides plant balance the software also takes plant activity and plant monitoring into account. With PlantVoice the irrigation cycle can be adjusted based on the needs of the plant and you realize the ideal greenhouse climate for your crop.
Evaporation Energy
With PlantVoice the irrigation cycle is determined based on evaporation energy. "One of the new findings of The New Cultivation is that plant activity is determined by its energy balance. Energy supplied by different sources contributes to plant activity and, in turn, to the degree of evaporation. New to Hoogendoorn’s iSii process computer software is that several sources can now be taken into account – including assimilation lighting, radiation and heating – so we can calculate the total amount of evaporation energy. This way the irrigation cycle can be adjusted to the needs of the plant. With irrigation based on the evaporation of the plant you can water more specifically and efficiently."

Currently a number of trials are taking place at Wageningen UR and in a rose greenhouse, among others. PlantVoice is available for the iSii process computer as of software version 7.
