Mexico: Former Sunny Fields CEO starts new carreer in substrate business

After managing greenhouse company Sunny Fields at the Agropark in Queretaro for many years, Mexican horticultural entrepreneur Jacques Jajati started a new chapter in his career with his new supply and distribution company Insumos y Proyectos Hidroponicos (IPH).

In April this year, Jajati kicked off his new adventure by signing an exclusive agreement with Riococo for the complete distribution of their coir substrates. At the Greentech exhibition in Amsterdam last week, Jacques explained us that it was an obvious choice for him to take on this challenge.

Jacques Jajati at the GreenTech exhibition in Amsterdam last week.

"As the CEO of Sunny Fields, I already had the opportunity to work with Riococo products for many years. At that time, I was not only just pleased with their products. In fact, what I liked the most was that the Riococo team visited us during our whole crop season, year in year out. I truly believe that this is what most producers want, a supplier that not only visits you to make the sale, but a partner that is with you all the time. Also, we enjoyed their accurate deliveries and did not face any quality issues. When the opportunity came for me to be part of this team with a distribution partnership for Mexico, Central America, South America and the Caribean, I did not hesitated any moment to take on this challenge."

Next month, Jajati will open the first distribution warehouse at the Agropark in Queretaro. According to Jajati, IPH's warehouse is just the first step to create a central point for their service partnership.

"We know that we have availability to deliver one of the better coir substrate growing media products in the market and what we offer is what we deliver, but what makes a company best is beyond that, so IPH's philosophy is the same as Riococo´s, built on honesty and service. We will frequently visit our customers, which we consider partners, in order to assist them and share with them the knowledge and tips we got from our partners around the world for them to have more and better produce. There are so many doubts and questions from the growers about substrates and we will do our best to answer, clarify and inform. "

Riococo's brand is already well established in the high tech greenhouse vegetable industry in Mexico. Yet, IPH will also look at new markets to distribute their products to. "Not only other countries, but also other parts of the industry. Think about the low and medium tech growers who are just in transition towards more dedicated technology", Jajati added. "There is so much to do in this great industry and we want to help our present and future partners to make the best profitable decisions."

According to Riococo's CEO Shan Halamba, Jajati and Insumos y Proyectos Hidroponicos are a welcome addition to their global network of partners. "Jacques is a former user of our product himself, he knows what the grower is looking for in a substrate, what the purchase department expects and needs, and how to achieve management goals . His experience at SunnyFields, in which he was overseeing production, sales, quality, and other decision making tasks, will definitely be a vital aspect of expanding our brand and services and is a new beginning of a new era of our company."
