A.M.A. Plastics founders celebrate 60th wedding anniversary

A.M.A. Plastics' founders Allen & Shirley Monsma were married in 1956 in Friesland, The Netherlands and moved to Canada a few days after the wedding to find new opportunities and make a better life. With a lot of hard work, faith and perseverance, things worked out pretty well.

Allen started A.M.A. Plastics in 1982 and in 1992, he invented Al's Flower Pouch. Some said it would never work, others said it was a short lived fad. But after millions of Al's Flower Pouches have been sold in 19 countries, they're still making pouches at A.M.A. in Kingsville.

Today, A.M.A. is owned and operated by Allen & Shirley's daughter, Connie and husband Rick, who say they are "grateful for the foundation laid down by Allen and Shirley".
