US (AL): Warm weather causes blueberry shortage

Farmers in Kinsey, Alabama, are reporting that the warm winter weather has meant that their blueberries did not get the required chill hours and hence a shortage is expected this season.

The normal season for blueberries usually begins at the end of May and lasts until the end of July. Nationwide farmers from Florida, North Carolina, to New Jersey have been seeing the result of the unusually warmer growing season.

Along with a shortage, this season is also expected to be shorter than normal, only lasting until end of June.
