A preventive approach to Fusarium in bell peppers

Jan Hulst of Bayer CropScience recently spoke to a group of pepper growers about the effect of Serenade on Fusarium / fruit rot. The disease doesn't manifest until week 22-28, but it develops sooner.

Jan advises starting the treatment of the crop with Serenade in week 12 and in the first three weeks of the setting. This advice also applies to the new settings during the season. Besides the preventive effect on Fusarium, it is also effective in controlling fungi like Botrytis and real mildew.

The persistence period is 7 to 10 days. Furthermore, the product addresses multiple Fusarium species. Therefore, it must be combined with a wetting agent. The dosage is set to 8 l/ha. Jan: "Trials demonstrate that one treatment already leads to a 50% reduction of occurrence of the disease.”
