US: Hydropods to launch connected grow controllers in June

Hydropods has announced that the Hydropods Environment Controller and Hydropods Nutrient Controller will start shipping to customers on June 1, 2016, at a retail price of $299 and $599, respectively. These cloud-based Wi-Fi Controllers enable growers to see, monitor and control a grow operation from anywhere using their smartphone. They scale from at-home and hobbyist hydroponic growers to sizable greenhouse and indoor agriculture.

The Hydropods Environment Controller monitors humidity, temperature, and, on some models, CO2. With two included Remote PowerBlocks, it can wirelessly control two devices, such as lighting, air conditioning, humidifier, or an exhaust fan. The system can be expanded with additional wireless modules available from Hydropods, including cameras, leak sensors, and additional PowerBlocks. Each controller can operate large numbers of wireless modules.

The Hydropods Nutrient Controller provides monitoring of the feed system, measuring nutrient levels, pH, temperature, and water level of the reservoir tank. In conjunction with the optional Hydropods Peristaltic Pump Modules, the Nutrient Controller can maintain pH and nutrient levels automatically.

The Hydropods App, available in the Apple App store and Google Play, connects to the Hydropods Controllers and allows users to monitor sensor data in real time, view real-time video, and control any connected devices. Users can set up rules including sensor triggers, timers, and schedules to automate the grow process and consistently provide plants with optimum growing conditions. The Hydropods App comes with a variety of grow programs for the most popular plants and will also provide access to a social network for users to share tips and pictures of their gardens.

“We started Hydropods because we wanted these things for ourselves, in our own home hydroponic gardens,” says Ted Tanner, CEO of Hydropods. “With our busy lives, it was important to automate and stay connected to our gardens when away from the house. We received great feedback during our beta period and are excited to get our products in the hands of our customers.”
