UK: Fresca welcomes Brett Sumner as new Group Finance Director

Brett Sumner has joined Fresca's leadership team as Group Finance Director and taken his place on the Fresca Group board. Brett joins Fresca Group after eight years with Finlays where he held the position of Finance Director for two of the company’s core divisions, specialising in tea trading and the manufacture of tea derivatives.

With broad experience gained by working not only in the UK, but in his native South Africa, Brett brings a wealth of knowledge about international commodity trading and the FMCG manufacturing sector. Whilst a finance specialist, Brett’s management experience includes administration work as well as the design and oversight of information systems. He is also familiar with group structured businesses like Fresca and the synergies and complexities of joint ventures.

Speaking of the appointment, the Fresca Group Chief Executive, Ian Craig, said: “I am very pleased indeed to welcome Brett to the group. When Mike Musk decided to retire from this key role I was concerned that it would be very difficult to find someone with sufficient experience and ability to meet our unique challenges. I am confident that Brett’s appointment brings us a fresh vision and a bright future.”

Ian continued: “I would also like to take this public opportunity to thank Mike Musk again for his 14 years of service to our business. Mike led our company through a period of fast growth and considerable change, building a very strong group with varied interests. That our Thanet Earth development became a reality is largely thanks to Mike and his commitment to the project. I want to wish him every happiness in retirement.”
