During an oral proceeding on 25 November 2015 the Opposition Division of the European Patent Office decided to revoke European Patent EP2031957, titled: "Greenhouse and forced greenhouse climate control system and method" in the name of Houweling Nurseries Oxnard Inc. Opposition was filed by J.M. van der Hoeven B.V. The claims were found invalid because of lack of novelty.

EPO Opposition Proceedings are post-grant adversarial proceedings in which interested third parties can challenge the validity of all the national parts of a European patent via a single centralized procedure. The decision of the Opposition Division to revoke Houweling Nuseries Oxnard Inc patent is open to an appeal to one of the EPO’s Technical Boards of Appeal.
