Workshop covers Calculation models for greenhouse designs

On Thursday April 25, Arena GreenQ in Bleiswijk organised a workshop on Calculation models for greenhouse designs. There were nearly 35 participants present. These were researchers, representatives of greenhouse construction companies, suppliers and engineering consultants.

The Chairman of this session, Egon Janssen of TNO, explained that the purpose of the afternoon was to gain knowledge about existing models and to hear what models should be developed in the future. Hanjo Lekkerkerk of GreenQ then gave a short presentation on the aims and achievements of the project "Working together on Skills" (SAV). Fokke Buwalda of Wageningen UR Greenhouse Horticulture spoke about crop growth models. The plant and its growth and production is the basis for the greenhouse design. By a predefined crop growth model, growth rates and production forecasts can be prepared. Other speakers elaborated on the subject, outlining new possibilities and ideas.

Subsequently, the participants were divided into four working groups: Plant Models, Studies Abroad, SIOM Development and Commercialization. A summary of the detailed discussions revealed that in the future, a lot can still be learned from each other, and further cooperation between supply companies is recommended.

Every week new reports will be posted on the website. These reports can be accessed by making a personal account on www.samenwerkenaanvaardigheden.nl
