Italy: Nematode stress? Tequil by Fertenia might be the solution

It has been proven that soil temperature has a fundamental role in the development of nematodes and can also affect their distribution. For example, tomato problems are almost exclusively due to Meloidogyne nematodes.

Among the over 60 species described, the most harmful ones are Meloidogyne incognita, M. javanica, M. arenaria (especially in warm areas) and M. hapla (continental climates or Mediterranean winter crops). It is in fact known that M. incognita is not active below 16°C, therefore summer crops are more difficult to handle.

In these conditions, it may be helpful to apply TEQUIL during the entire vegetative cycle, as plants can survive parasite attacks better.

The scientific community showed a lot of interest in TEQUIL and carried out my lab and field tests (University of Naples, Emilia-Romagna region, CNR Bari). The results showed an increase in production also where containment was more marginal.

Another thing that emerged, is the importance of a correct application method. Sometimes it was ideal to fraction the doses (2-3 interventions depending on the cycle) to maintain nematodes below the damage threshold (IMI between 2 and 3 of the Lamberti scale). The ideal distribution is best carried out with drippers, sprinklers or spray bars.

TEQUIL can also be used during the entire vegetative cycle alone or with other synthesis nematocides, microbial consortia and other eco-friendly practices (solarisation, steam sterilisation, tolerant rootstocks, etc.).

The doses during the post-transplant or seeding stage vary between 15 and 60 L/ha according to the crop cycle of every species with single or fractioned application.

The combined use with FOSFO' ZIN 3.40 (zinc phosphite 3.40 + 7 zn) improved the product's performance thanks to an acid pH and the high presence of zinc, the catalyst ion of the tryptophan synthesis.

In alkaline soils, TEQUIL can be used with ASSORB pH 3.0 which facilitates the absorption of nutrients.

Before planting crops, it is advisable to fertilise the soil with NATURALE NEM, a nitrogen organic fertilizer with a high content of organic matter of vegetable origin to create a hostile environment for nematodes.

Using TEQUIL represents a valid solution with a proven efficacy for an integrated agriculture approach as it can improve the quantity and quality of crops. Tequil is a natural non-phytotoxic product that is not dangerous for man or the environment.
