US (AZ): Lettuce intensive coming back to CEAC in January 2016

After a year hiatus, the Controlled Environment Agriculture Center (CEAC) of the University of Arizona is pleased to announce that they will again be offering the Greenhouse Hydroponic Lettuce Intensive in 2016. The Lettuce Intensive will be held on the campus of the CEAC from January 8 – 10, 2016. The lettuce course will be offered both as a standalone course and as a combined intensive course immediately following the tomato intensive (January 3 – 8). The instructor will be hydroponic lettuce and business expert Myles Lewis, AZ Vegetable Co., who will be teaching his 5th CEAC Lettuce Intensive.

The greenhouse lettuce and tomato intensives feature content taught in the university courses, with the combined intensives components of a semester of course content in a week. Students will spend time in both the classroom and the greenhouse to help put lessons learned through lecture into practice. Other useful events include a greenhouse engineer roundtable discussion and a marketing lesson at a local farmers market. A complete schedule, along with registration and lodging information, can be found on the CEAC website at: http://ceac.arizona.edu/hydroponic-crop-intensive- courses. Continuing Education Units are available!
