Demo field Fijnaart completely up to date

Rijk Zwaan’s demo field in Fijnaart once again opened to visitors. For the next three weeks, growers, plant raisers, processors and other business partners are warmly welcome to see the open-field assortment for themselves.

There are a notably high number of resistant leafy crops in the field this year, with a fully up-to-date assortment of both lettuce and spinach on display. “We’ve updated our lettuce range again in view of the recent official designation of the HR Bl:32 race. And we’ve got resistant varieties of spinach in the field, including semi-savoy, smooth-leaf and oriental types,” says Rijk Zwaan Demo Field Coordinator Arno van Oers.

Furthermore Rijk Zwaan will display a number of new brassica varieties in white cabbage, cauliflower, pointed cabbage and kohlrabi. These are early varieties and they are growing according to plan. “For a while we thought we might face some problems with our crops due to the stormy weather – we had severe hailstorms just after the lettuce had been planted, for example. But luckily we managed to get everything ready in time to welcome visitors, both from the Netherlands and from around the world!”
